Surface Print, a leading UK-based wallcovering manufacturer, has announced the installation of its fifth HP Latex press. The additional machine, an HP Latex 3600, will boost capacity and satisfy the increasing demand for luxury wallcoverings from Surface Print’s international customer base. With a unique mix of traditional and digital printing processes, this family-run business offers its customers a range of individual designs.

Surface Print was founded in 1990 by John Watson, whose father and grandfather also worked in the trade, and is now run by the fourth generation of Watsons. Today, Surface Print uses Surface, Sur-Flex, Flexo, Flock, Beads, Grit, Emboss and Digital printing methods to create visually stunning designs. The company also offers a range of the latest applications including holographic foil, Cork Flock, Bead and non-woven products.

The installation of a fifth HP Latex press ensures Surface Print’s goals for sustainability and efficiency are met without compromising on its customers’ desires for high-quality products. The new HP Latex 3600 will also reduce lead times and satisfy ever-increasing demand from customers.

Surface Print has worked closely with HP in the development of the HP Latex series and its applications within the wallpaper industry,” said Jason Gilliat, Business Development Manager at Surface Print. “The HP Latex 3000 series was selected for its speed, quality of print mark and robust construction, in response to growing demand for short-run, high quality wallcoverings within the wallpaper sector at every level. HP is the market leader in this regard, and its water-based, eco-friendly ink technology has proved itself to be essential in the interiors market as opposed to solvent inks, thanks to its sustainable approach. Our company will continue to work with HP to develop its new technology now and in the future; it’s a partnership which is a great benefit both to us and our customers.”

The HP Latex 3600 offers robust quality at every speed, and maximises uptime and overnight printing with its high printing speeds of up to 350,000 ft²/month. With automatic maintenance and minimal operator requirements, this press helps to drive down costs while offering superior quality, no matter the application.
