When printing double-sided, it is important to achieve proper registration: the images on the front and back must align perfectly. On large-format presses, registration is handled by a 3 point registration system. The substrate is aligned using 3 pins or notches. This mechanism helps minimize the impact of media stock that has slight variations in size or that is not perfectly rectangular.
