In 2006, FESPA digital was established to focus on emerging digital technologies in the sign and graphics markets. 10 years on, technologies have evolved, new markets have emerged and the wide format digital print sector is one of the print industry’s greatest success stories. As FESPA gets set to stage FESPA Digital 2016 back at the event’s original starting point in Amsterdam, Lorraine Harrow, Group Marketing manager, FESPA takes stock of how far wide format digital print has come in a decade.

Soyang Europe is to host a series of regional roadshows held at top football clubs around the UK, alongside its exhibition partners – Ultima Displays and I-Sub. The first event, scheduled for 27th January 2016, will be held at Manchester United FC and includes a stadium tour of Old Trafford, plus the chance to win a mini iPad.

With printable flooring growing apace, Soyang Europe – one of the chief innovators in this fast moving sector – is to show a range of value-adding printable flooring substrates at premier European flooring exhibition, Domotex, in January.

Mimaki has a full show schedule planned for January 2016. The company will be exhibiting at no less than three major trade shows, each focusing on its own specific field of interest, the first of which is Heimtextil, the largest international trade fair for home and contract textiles. Heimtextil is scheduled for 12th to 15th January at Messe Frankfurt, Germany. Mimaki will be located in Hall 4.0, Stand F15.

A total of 3,400 visitors from 68 countries came to the Munich Trade Fair Centre to learn about cutting-edge technology, components and services for speciality, screen, digital, inkjet and 3D from some 150 exhibitors at the InPrint show. In addition to the 3,400 InPrint visitors, a further 1,324 visitors of the co-located productronica show made use of the offer to visit both shows with one combined ticket.

Roland DG says that following the announcement of its Better Business Experience Day the company has received a fantastic response in pre-registrations. It goes to show just how much the industry values the chance to expand their knowledge, and as such, several of Roland DG’s expert sessions, running throughout the day, are now limited in availability.

Roland DG UK is to host a Better Business Experience Day at its Clevedon HQ on the 16th of September 2015 from 10am-7pm. Here the company aims to inspire, teach and motivate veteran, new and potential Roland users through multiple workshops, seminars and hands-on time with a variety of industry experts.

International Expo-Consults (IEC) is the organiser Sign and Graphics Imaging (SGI Dubai) in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region. Its chairman, Mr. Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, believes the UAE can capitalise on the fast growing textile printing industry and has a huge potential to become one of the market leaders, particularly as UAE currently stands as the world’s fourth largest trading centre of textiles, generating an approximate $17.5 billion annually.

Avery Dennison has kicked off its summer ‘Wrap Like a King’ vehicle wrap challenge which runs until 30th September. Vehicle wrap installers from 42 countries around the globe can now submit commercial or colour change wrap projects which will be judged by a panel of industry experts such as West Coast Customs CEO Ryan Friedlinghaus.

Mimaki says it is set to participate in Labelexpo Europe 2015 this September where the company will display a range of unique new products for the label market that can be created with the Mimaki family of printers.

Roland DG will be attending Newtech’s upcoming Wide Format, Screen, Digital & Display Show on the 14th and 15th of July 2015, at the Paintworks, Bristol – just 15 miles from Roland’s HQ in Clevedon.

The Indian textile buying season has started and with it a host of interior decor, home textile and furnishing manufacturers are set to present their new collections, made-to-order product ranges and high-end designs at the country’s two top trade fairs for Interior Decor and Home Furnishings – Ambiente India & Heimtextil India 2015.

Kiss Lajos from Hungary has retained his title of FESPA World Wrap Master for the second year running, at FESPA 2015 Global Expo (18-22 May 2015) in Cologne. Marco Dittl from Germany and Jeremy Gayet from France, took second and third place, respectively.

The recent FESPA 2015 Global Expo in Cologne has smashed attendance records by drawing the largest total audience ever for a FESPA event, with 43,775 visits over the five days of the show, an increase of 17% compared with the previous flagship FESPA event in London in 2013.

A visit to FESPA has enabled Netherlands based customised packaging specialist Doosopmaat.nl to find the right single pass digital print solution to fill a growing need for on demand production for a growing client base. As such the Rotterdam based company placed the first order worldwide for AEG’s Sprinter bespoke wide format system to provide the high speed and colour quality the company was looking for.

Mimaki has again been recognised at FESPA 2015 with a European Digital Press Association (EDP) award for ‘Best Print and Cut Solution’. The Mimaki CJV150 Series brings simultaneous print/cut operations to an affordable entry-level printer at a print speed of up to 56.2 square meters per hour. The award was accepted by Mike Horsten, general manager Marketing of Mimaki EMEA, at a special awards ceremony held during the show.

According to HP you are looking at the next chapter of the HP Latex industrial revolution. The company’s latest printer - launched at FESPA 2015 - is designed for high-volume, dedicated application production, delivering what HP says are new levels of productivity and operational efficiency for sign and display print providers.

FESPA 2015 sees EFI introducing a dedicated, production-class roll-to-roll printer, and its fastest printer on the market. The new VUTEk HSr LED/UV Pin & Cure imaging press is a 3.2 m high-speed roll-to-roll printer that targets the replacement of older solvent printers for the high-volume production of vehicle wraps, lorry sides, banners, posters and more.

Fujifilm has announced the launch of an advanced new UV ink technology at FESPA 2015, called Uvijet OW. The newly launched ink range, which is used in the Inca Onset series, has been developed specifically with improved adhesion properties so that it can be used on a wider range of rigid and flexible plastic substrates.
