There was a distinctly Scandinavian feel about the finalist selections in this year's ProCarton ECMA Awards, including Finnish skincare and cosmetics firm Lumene’s creation of a new logo called ‘Wheel of Light’ just at the beginning of the year. The packaging concept was developed by international market leading packaging manufacturer Edelmann and a British design team from JDO. The goal was to emphasise the brand story that highlights the exceptional pure nature and yearly light cycle of the Scandinavian landscape with special visual and physical features.
Soft and smooth on the outside, luxurious and classy on the inside: the illoom.-LookBook, a joint effort between speciality paper manufacturer Sappi and effect pigment provider ECKART, hits the bullseye. The brilliant white SBS paperboard, Algro Design from Sappi shows off the illoom. metal effects so well that it is hard to put the sample box down.
“Move X-treme. Discover your possibilities” – This is the umbrella theme under which ACTEGA Terra, Koenig & Bauer and Sappi have continued their successful joint calendar project over the last few years. The new 2018 calendar, hot off the press, depicts athletes who push themselves to their limits, whether in speed skating, white water kayaking or motocross. Steely resolve and perfect preparation can lead to outstanding sporting success. The rewards: strong emotions, a great deal of public interest and the satisfaction of having accomplished something extraordinary. These are reactions similar to those experienced by three companies from the worlds of speciality papers, quality printing and overprint varnishes for high-quality finishing as they produce their annual calendar.
