In a special webinar next week, three experts in the digital textile printing arena will offer a sneak-peek at the 2018 Digital Textile Printing Conference 3.0, presented by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC).

How well — and how fast — can you wrap the side of a 2018 Ford Mustang GT? That’s the challenge nine two-person teams faced in the Wrap Team Challenge, hosted by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) PDAA Committee over the three days of last week’s 2018 SGIA Expo. Three teams took home cash prizes and bragging rights:

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) 2018 SGIA Expo — the last before launching its PRINTING United trade show with NAPCO Media in 2019 — brought more than 24,000 people to the Las Vegas Convention Center October 18–20. With 612 suppliers on the sold-out exhibit floor, 72 expert-led education sessions and a host of networking events, attendees were inspired by the latest innovations and “what’s on the horizon” for the printing industry.

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) honored excellence in student printing at the 2018 SGIA Expo, awarding winners of the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technologies (ASDPT) Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition. This year’s Best of Show winners are Gabi Huben from Careerline Tech (secondary) and Jose Revueltas from Pasadena City College (post-secondary).

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) recognized the best printing in the industry at the 2018 SGIA Expo today, presenting winners of this year’s Golden Image Competition. From hundreds of entries in over 50 categories, a select few received gold, silver and bronze ribbons, and from them came the Best of Show winners.

“The Golden Image Competition is known around the world as the most prestigious competition to recognize printing excellence and innovation,” said Johnny Shell, Vice President, Print Technology & Training, SGIA. “Winning gold, silver or bronze is an amazing feat, and winning Best of Show or People’s Choice exemplifies printing excellence, placing your work in an elite group.”

The Golden Image Competition honors industry-leading printing in over 50 categories, as determined by expert judges. In this year’s competition, judges evaluated 279 entries from 60 companies, then chose Best of Show winners from the gold ribbon winners. Expo attendees visiting the Golden Image Gallery voted on entries to award People’s Choice.

SGIA would like to congratulate all winners, especially:

Best of Show (Graphic): “Mountain” by Atelier fur Siebdruck (Muentschemier, CH, Switzerland)

Best of Show (Garment): “Lion” by Manga Colours Ltd. (Barnsley, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom)

Best of Show (Digital): “Houston Dash Train” by Mountain Commercial Graphics (Houston, Texas, United States)

Best in Show (Creativity): “Reproduction of ‘Luck Beads’ in a Style of the Ancient Fayum Portraits” by Striving Artists Framing and Art Services (Chatsworth, California, United States)

People’s Choice: “Saw Militar” by Max Art Productions LLC (Las Vegas, Nevada, United States)

“The SGIA Expo gives the best in printing the chance to shine and the Golden Image Competition showcases the great art our industry can produce. I am honored to present these winners with their awards and appreciate their contribution to our competition,” said Shell.
