Global printer manufacturer OKI is rolling out the much anticipated return of the popular ColorPainter series of wide format inkjet printers under its own brand with a massive awareness campaign. This includes sponsoring a leading Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race team and a ‘Print My Ride’ competition that gives budding vehicle wrap artists and experienced creatives alike the opportunity to design a car wrap fit for the racetrack.
The Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Graphics Center has created a full Roland DGA wrap for the team’s No. 33 Chevrolet, to be driven by rookie of the year contender Brandon Jones in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race on Sat., Feb. 27 in Atlanta, Ga.
As part of its increasing commitment to supporting young people in print, Hybrid Services has created the Mimaki Vehicle Wrap Lab (MVWL) at the country’s foremost motorsport engineering education establishment - Oxford Brookes University - supplying a Mimaki wide format printer, cutting plotter and software package in a partnership set to take wide format print to a whole new level in British motorsports.
Mixing in the paddock with hi-profile race teams at the UK’s leading race circuits is not the sort of thing I usually do, but when the GDW Stig aka Jason Price invited me to be a guest of Ram Racing for the final round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Donington Park last Sunday, I couldn’t resist.
