OKI Europe has launched a dedicated colour media profiles database for ColorPainter users with over 14,000 media profiles, giving registered users fast, free access to accurate media and colour management settings and unlocking new revenue opportunities for graphic arts businesses and creative organisations.

New research[1] from digital print software provider, PrintFactory, reveals that a widespread reliance on default solutions could be costing large-format operations thousands in, avoidable, wasted time, ink and media.

At FESPA Global Print Expo in Berlin, Onyx Graphics officially launched ONYX 18 software, the latest version release that includes new colour technologies for colour accuracy, consistency and conformance to standards such as G7 and Fogra that print service providers can prove to their customers. X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and Pantone LLC, announced today that their cloud-based digital color standard ecosystem, PantoneLIVE™, will include the official spectral data from the popular Pantone Fashion, Home + Interiors System for cotton and nylon and the Pantone Matching System (PMS) for plastics and coatings. For the first time, color specifiers and manufacturers will have instant access to up-to-date spectral values for Pantone Colors for plastics, coatings and textiles, including the Pantone Color of the Year 2018: PANTONE 18-3838, Ultra Violet. Color management experts GMG have further expanded their plugin for Adobe Photoshop in Version 1.3. Now color accurate separations from RGB into Multicolor color spaces are possible with up to seven colors. This is based on GMG OpenColor separation profiles. GMG product manager Peter Schöffler explains: "By using separation with the ChannelExtender, image data can be flexibly adapted to the printing process used." The conversion can be switched on or off at any stage during image processing. This way the final result can be directly simulate at any stage of processing. A further innovation: The ColorBoost function makes images more saturated and vivid.

Guaranteeing consistency of colour reproduction across devices and substrates has always been a challenge for the wide-format print sector - but it doesn’t have to be.
