EFI has acquired specialist UK chemicals company Rialco Limited, one of Europe's leading suppliers of dye powders and colour products for the digital print and industrial manufacturing industries.

Mimaki says it has added Light Black to its portfolio of high-performance sublimation inks following the recent release of neon yellow and pink fluorescent inks available in two litre ink packs, all of which are ideal for low-volume, high-quality use in fashion and sportswear and swimwear.

To promote the launch of its new generation Eco-Sol Max 3 ink, Roland DG has announced a special conversion deal to existing Roland DG customers when they upgrade to Eco-Sol Max 3.

printMAX says that now is the ideal time to invest in a new Roland Soljet Pro 4 XR 640 or XF 640 printer in order to qualify for one year’s free supply of Roland’s new Eco-Sol Max 3 inks, worth over £7,000.

Wide format inkjet ink manufacturer Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems (FSIS) has scooped two prestigious awards for its Broadstairs production facility at the Best Factory Awards. The company walked off with both the Export award and, for the third year running, Best Process Plant award.

Roland DG has released EUV4 ECO-UV ink developed specifically for use with its VersaUV UV-LED inkjet printers. The new EUV4 ink features a change in chemistry that reduces odour and the shrinking of thin film materials such as BOPP, PE and PET when curing. In addition to a 220ml cartridge, a new, larger 500ml cartridge has also been introduced (white ink is only available in 220ml cartridges).

Roland DG has launched the next generation of ECO-SOL MAX ink for use with its range of eco-solvent printers and printer/cutters. New ECO-SOL MAX 3 has been designed to provide users with faster drying times, larger capacity cartridges, and a lower price per cc of ink. The new generation ink is also Greenguard Gold certified which ensures that prints can be used in public sector environments such as schools and hospitals.

Clearly word of mouth is spreading about the results, but what is special about white ink? In fact, why use white ink at all?

A system of printing direct to PET bottles has led Belgium based brewer Martens, based in Bocholt, to produce a range of beers with an interactive augmented reality label linked to a popular Belgium TV show. The direct print technology was developed by the German company KHS implementing low-migration inks from Agfa.

A large number of inks within the Fujifilm Uvijet UV range for wide format print applications have been approved for Nordic Swan Ecolabelled printers. These include: Uvijet KI, KV, OZ, OB, OL, OW, QN, WH, WI and LL.
