With its inaugural global design competition having already received masses of entries from countries around the world, Antalis’ UK arm is reminding the UK’s talented design and print community to get their entries in ahead of the imminent closing date.

Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions announced that Lei’d Low by Nick Caminiti, car wrap installer at Exotic Graphix from Australia, was named the King of the Wrap World in the “Wrap Like a King” Challenge at the 2017 SEMA Show. Caminiti competed against 159 other installers from 19 countries to earn the title of “King of the Wrap World” for 2017.

Voting has now closed for the new Innovation Awards acknowledging progressive developments and partnerships that drive important changes in industrial print and manufacturing. The winners will be announced at the InPrint 2017 exhibition taking place from 14 - 16 November 2017 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany.

More than a thousand attendees gathered at the Messe Wien Congress Centre in Vienna on October 11- 13 for FEFCO’s Technical Seminar where the latest technologies in the sector were showcased. The FEFCO Technical Seminar is indeed a highlight of the industry’s calendar, offering corrugated manufacturers and suppliers some of their most productive innovations and new business development activity. The Vienna edition was the most popular in the last ten years: there were 126 stands and 87 exhibitors on hand, a new record.

The ‘Roland DG Young Signmaker of the Year’ award aims to reward the rising stars of the industry who have made outstanding progress in their careers to date. The award, presented this year at the 2016 BSGA British Sign Awards, showcased the talent of two entries this year that the judges couldn’t put a pin between, leading to two apprentices - Damian Jacobs of Allen Signs and Kirsty Donald of Owen Pilling Graphics - announced as joint winners.

Industry awards can sometimes be a bit of a cynical experience. The majority of these events are run by trade press publishers looking to extract a few extra pennies from the market, with winners tending to be representative of the individual category award sponsors own customer base. From experience the majority of awards events that I have attended seemed to be nothing more than a good excuse for a pissed-up food fight and an all-round back-slapping session in the bar afterwards, and there is nothing wrong with that if this is your thing, but it’s not for me.

The EDP Association counts 20 member printing industry trade press magazines across Europe, and at a special ceremony held during Drupa Mimaki picked up three awards that were accepted by Mike Horsten, General Manager Marketing of Mimaki EMEA.

Roland DG is delighted to confirm that they will continue to champion the next generation of signage professional as they once again sponsor the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award at this year’s BSGA British Sign Awards, which will return to the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on the 3rd November 2016.

The FESPA Awards 2016 are now closed and the amount of entries has exceeded expectations, with 45% more admissions than for the FESPA Awards 2014.

FESPA is inviting its global print community to attend the FESPA Awards Gala Dinner, taking place on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at the Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.

FESPA has extended the deadline for its annual Awards to Friday 5 February, providing printers with an extra week to submit their entries.

The SGIA Product of the Year competition raised the bar at the 2015 Expo (Atlanta, November 4–6) with a new class of entries in categories from digital inks, finishing and media to direct-to-garment, roll-to-roll and UV flatbed.

FESPA has launched its call for entries for its 2016 Awards, marking the start of its search for pioneering and innovative projects in the print industry.
