Concurrent with the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Academy Schools has hosted an exhibition to show students’ exceptional artwork across a wide range of media. Much of this has been created using Epson large format printers and projectors, technology which has also fostered others in their outside-the-box creative thinking.

Textile and fashion designer Richard Quinn has launched the Richard Quinn Print Studio, a unique textile printworks offering Epson dye sublimation and traditional screen printing services and workshops.

To boost the capacity and variety of signage products it produces, Slam Signs has invested in a 64-inch Epson SureColor SC-S80600 wide format printer. The new printer, supplied by Papergraphics, joins a SureColor SC-S40600 which was installed two years ago.

The popular Epson SureColor SC-S Series of wide-format printers is now the top selling eco-solvent technology in its class in Western Europe according to independent research conducted by Infosource. Epson says it grew market share for these printers from 5th place with just over 9% in 2015, to a league-topping 28.4% by the end of 2016.

There were a lot of very good looking stands at Sign & Digital this year, but the one that really caught my attention was Epson. I was impressed at how well the company was able to seamlessly display the all-round capabilities of its SureColor eco-solvent and dye-sublimation printers featuring a wrapped car, wallpaper, signage and textiles, and how they were able to produce rich and perfectly-matched colours all blended together in a single display wall.

Epson is back with a bang at this year’s Sign & Digital UK exhibition and says it plans to demonstrate the power of its SureColor range of wide-format printers, used to produce a wide variety of high-quality value-added applications. Visitors will see selected models from the SureColor SC-S (eco-solvent), SC-T (aqueous) and SC-F (dye-sublimation) ranges printing quality display graphics, POS, wallpaper, textiles, soft signage, and vehicle wraps.

Epson has launched a new desktop proofing printer that can deliver near-perfect colour matching of up to 99% of Pantone Solid Coated Colours. The 17-inch, 10-colour SureColor SC-P5000 looks set to offer a pretty sweet deal (coming in at just £1,795) for anybody looking at either professional proofing, fine art or photography applications.

Epson Italia S.p.A. is to acquire 100% of the capital of Fratelli Robustelli S.r.l. (Robustelli), a leader in the textile printing industry.  Located in Como, the heart of the Italian and European high-quality printing textile industry, Robustelli specialises in the development, manufacture, and sale of digital inkjet textile printers, notably the Monna Lisa series (above), which it began developing with Epson in 2003.

St Albans based signage and printing company Slam Signs has invested in a four-colour SureColor SC-S40600 wide format printer. It is the company’s third SureColor - it has owned a SC-S30600 since its launch in 2012 and purchased its eight-colour SC-S70600 in 2015.

Nth Degree Imaging has relocated to a new UK central location as part of a major new strategic expansion plan. The new offices in Peterborough will be better sized and positioned to house and demonstrate a vast array of the very latest wide format printing and finishing equipment, media, colour management and workflow solutions.

FESPA Digital in Amsterdam was big, brassy, and above all the place to get your head around the current trends, innovative products, and more wide format printing and finishing technology than you could shake a stick at. We loved it, as did 16,000 other unique visitors thereby making it the largest FESPA Digital show to date.

Epson has introduced the Epson Control Dashboard, a useful and innovative browser-based management and productivity application dedicated to its recently launched SureColor SC-S Series wide format printers that the company says helps operators’ set-up and optimise print output parameters faster and easier than ever before.

Epson says it is planning to launch a new smaller footprint 44” SC-P10000 printer at Drupa 2016. This follows in the footsteps of the recently launched 64” SC-P20000. The company says both models are easy to operate and produce accurate, high quality, large-format photos, POS items and signage - even at fast speeds.

Onyx Graphics has announced full support for the recently launched Epson SureColor SC-S printers, through its ONYX 12 wide-format print software.

Slough based Kili Arts has installed an Epson SureColor SC-F6000 44-inch digital dye sublimation printer and a Sefa 1510 heat press to produce its new range of high quality ChromaLuxe photographic prints and metal panels.

Epson has launched ColorWorks C7500, a compact colour label printer for a wide range of in-house, on-demand, customised labelling requirements.
