X-Rite Incorporated and Pantone LLC, global leaders in color science and technology, today announced that GMG’s proofing software supports the new i1Pro 3 Family of color management solutions. The combination of GMG ColorProof, GMG ProofControl and the i1Pro 3 color measurement instrument allows printers and converters to quickly and efficiently verify digital proofs for color accuracy based on industry standards such as Fogra PSO and PSD. As a result, printers are able to deliver consistent results that meet customer requirements each and every time.

GMG ColorServer is now addressing an even broader user base and, therefore relies on three solutions for different areas of the graphic arts industry: GMG ColorServer Conventional, GMG ColorServer Digital and GMG ColorServer Multicolor.

Digital printing is becoming increasingly important, especially in the packaging industry. The reasons for this are shorter product cycles as well as the ongoing trend of personalized print products. In general, the desire for more flexibility in print production is an industry-wide trend.

Where color management is now largely automated and standardized for the traditional 4-color printing processes, the demand for printing with an expanded color space – also referred to as ‚Extended Color Gamut‘ (or ECG) – is steadily increasing. ECG achieves a more vibrant print result and can replace the need for spot colors. This is especially interesting for packaging- and digital printing. These relatively new multi-color processes often present better results and more efficiency.

While large format printing might traditionally be associated with outdoor advertising – billboards, posters, vehicle graphics & more – in its purest form it’s simply another way to print any kind of imagery or graphic material. It presents a wealth of creative opportunity for artists and, in particular, photographers, as this fantastic project we worked on with Perou goes to show.

The optimized media library makes it easier to organize materials directly in GMG OpenColor. Previous version already made it possible to save custom media and reuse them later. As of GMG OpenColor 2.3, all customized substrates will be shown at one place and changes to the properties of a media are automatically applied to all projects in which the corresponding media is used. The new feature grants consistency in paper tint, even across different jobs, and with this automation ensures the correct output of proofs. In addition, operators of GMG OpenColor do not have to edit each project manually but can rely on considerable time savings.

GMG ProofMedia studio line has recently been enriched by a new media: GMG ProofMedia studio OBA semiMatte 200 - a substrate perfectly suited for proofing of products printed on coated material containing optical brightening agents (OBAs), such as magazines, brochures, or packaging.
