We need to keep a social distance – strange terminology, as being 'social' is getting close to each other. We are working via Zoom, Skype and other platforms, meaning we don't get to talk and gossip around the coffee machine anymore. All the essentials we experience as human beings at work are taken away by something we can't see, smell or feel. That is really creepy.

Based in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, Brett Martin is one of the world's leading producers of plastic sheets, so when local company Denroy was looking for a high quality solution for face visor manufacturing, Brett Martin was the natural partner - its aPET sheet, known as Marpet-a FS, proving the ideal solution.

Seiko Epson Corporation (TSE: 6724, “Epson”) will apply its original Dry Fibre technology to manufacture face masks for its employees in Japan. Dry Fibre technology, which is also used in Epson’s PaperLab A-8000 in-office dry paper making system, is a dry process that has until now been used to turn used paper into new paper inside the office. The masks will be made not from used paper, but from functional fibres and will be manufactured at the company’s Kanbayashi and Suwa Minami Plants in Nagano, Japan, where the majority of its domestic employees are located. Epson expects to begin manufacturing the masks from the end of May. The company does not currently plan to manufacture the masks for sale.

In just two short weeks, Canon Solutions America, Inc.’s customer, Hatch Exhibits, went from operating as a full-service exhibit production shop in Maryland to a producer of protective face shields, disposable gowns, and touchless doorknobs to help those in their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to Canon’s Colorado 1650, the MultiCam Celero 7, a Colex 10’ x 5’ Sharpcut, and Canon Solutions America’s support in sourcing other necessary materials, Hatch Exhibits has been able to quickly manufacture this gear to help create a safe workspace for its staff to continue with essential projects.

With a large part of the global production of personal protective equipment (PPE) happening in the United States and China, much of Europe is experiencing a major PPE shortage, putting millions of lives at risk. Through their PPE Task Force, Gerber has already helped over 1,200 manufacturers across the globe successfully convert their manufacturing capabilities to PPE production.

"It is the most complex moments that bring progress, and it is in these moments that we activate our creativity". A phrase that has always reflected Guandong's innovative spirit and which proves even more true today, in the face of the world health emergency situation. Despite the lockdown that saw many 'turn off their engines' temporarily, the Specialities' Specialist has actually been 'pushing down on the accelerator', always remaining alongside its customers, but also giving life to new initiatives dedicated to the world of visual communication.

Elitron’s customer service team is working flat out to support many of our customers who have opted to redirected their production to produce urgent medical equipment to fight against the further spread of COVID-19: primarily producing face masks, face shields, and protective single-use overalls.

An Essex-based manufacturer is using its expertise in cutting systems to design and make vital equipment to support frontline staff in the fight against Covid-19.

With Gerber’s agile and quick response, Hardwire is adding two new cutting machines and software to their existing multi-ply cutting systems, allowing them to produce tens of thousands of face shields per day.
