Ironically, HNS have been nominated for a scheme that they created for a different organisation that is also involved in the promotion of signage and print industry! HNS provided a transformation of FESPAs atrium and other areas at their head office in Dorking.

This year the third BSGA British Sign Awards attracted entries from some truly world class projects, leaving the judging panel with an immensely difficult task in choosing which one should receive the ultimate accolade – the 2016 Sign of the Year Award.

The ‘Roland DG Young Signmaker of the Year’ award aims to reward the rising stars of the industry who have made outstanding progress in their careers to date. The award, presented this year at the 2016 BSGA British Sign Awards, showcased the talent of two entries this year that the judges couldn’t put a pin between, leading to two apprentices - Damian Jacobs of Allen Signs and Kirsty Donald of Owen Pilling Graphics - announced as joint winners.

Industry awards can sometimes be a bit of a cynical experience. The majority of these events are run by trade press publishers looking to extract a few extra pennies from the market, with winners tending to be representative of the individual category award sponsors own customer base. From experience the majority of awards events that I have attended seemed to be nothing more than a good excuse for a pissed-up food fight and an all-round back-slapping session in the bar afterwards, and there is nothing wrong with that if this is your thing, but it’s not for me.

Roland DG is delighted to confirm that they will continue to champion the next generation of signage professional as they once again sponsor the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award at this year’s BSGA British Sign Awards, which will return to the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on the 3rd November 2016.

Hearty congratulations to Nathan Aston of Ast Transport Branding who picked up the ‘Roland DG Apprentice of the Year’ award at last night’s BSGA Awards, presented by Roland DG managing director Brett Newman.

Digital print media specialist Soyang Europe is seeking out talent in the wide format sector as it sponsors the ‘Wideformat Project of the Year’ award for the second year running at the BSGA’s British Sign Awards.

Roland DG (UK) is to sponsor the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award at the BSGA British Sign Awards. The ‘Roland Apprentice of the Year’ award will reward sign making apprentices who have made outstanding progress in their academic and learning achievements, as well as a real contribution to their employer’s business.

The British Sign Awards 2015, organised by the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), will be presented at a gala event to be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre, located on the campus at Nottingham University, on Tuesday, October 13th.
