Recruiting, training and retaining quality staff are some of the core issues facing the UK sign and graphics industry, according to research commissioned by ISA-UK, powered by BSGA.

Research commissioned by the UK sign and graphics industry’s leading trade association, the ISA-UK powered by BSGA, has revealed that, despite the uncertain political times, optimism is high in the industry.

The leading trade organisation for the UK sign industry, the British Sign & Graphics Association (BSGA), has entered a new chapter in its history: with a new name and a new president and vice-president.

ISA-UK, powered by BSGA, now provides members access to online training and research through the website, www.uksigns.org. These benefits come from the newly forged relationship between ISA and BSGA which took effect January 1.

This year’s British Sign Awards proved an eventful one for Roland DG. Organised by the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA), the British Sign Awards aims to recognise innovation and excellence in the field of sign-making. The gala awards ceremony was held on Thursday, 8 November 2018 at the Athena Centre in Leicester, a former Odeon cinema and now a striking landmark of the city.

Members of ISA-UK, powered by British Sign and Graphics Association, will see immediate benefits from the newly forged relationship, ISA president and CEO Lori Anderson announced today. Anderson made the announcement as part of the British Sign Awards held in Leicester, England.

The International Sign Association announces its newest partnership, ISA-UK, powered by The British Sign & Graphics Association. ISA-UK will allow ISA and BSGA to work together on issues common across the sign, graphics and visual communications industry, including codes and regulations, research, workforce education and events.

This year the third BSGA British Sign Awards attracted entries from some truly world class projects, leaving the judging panel with an immensely difficult task in choosing which one should receive the ultimate accolade – the 2016 Sign of the Year Award.

The ‘Roland DG Young Signmaker of the Year’ award aims to reward the rising stars of the industry who have made outstanding progress in their careers to date. The award, presented this year at the 2016 BSGA British Sign Awards, showcased the talent of two entries this year that the judges couldn’t put a pin between, leading to two apprentices - Damian Jacobs of Allen Signs and Kirsty Donald of Owen Pilling Graphics - announced as joint winners.

And the wiener is…

Industry awards can sometimes be a bit of a cynical experience. The majority of these events are run by trade press publishers looking to extract a few extra pennies from the market, with winners tending to be representative of the individual category award sponsors own customer base. From experience the majority of awards events that I have attended seemed to be nothing more than a good excuse for a pissed-up food fight and an all-round back-slapping session in the bar afterwards, and there is nothing wrong with that if this is your thing, but it’s not for me.

Roland DG is delighted to confirm that they will continue to champion the next generation of signage professional as they once again sponsor the ‘Young Sign Maker of the Year’ award at this year’s BSGA British Sign Awards, which will return to the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham on the 3rd November 2016.
