Print Business hires new chairman to drive growth and support British manufacturing

October 16, 2020

Regency Design, the specialist print business, has appointed Dominic Riley, former Chairman of The Morgan Motor Company and a passionate supporter of British manufacturing, to help take the business to the next stage of growth as companies plan for a post-pandemic resurgence.

Regency Design gained national plaudits for pivoting its business towards the design of PPE and other COVID-19-related hygiene and safety products, harnessing its manufacturing capability and specifically its skill in working with metal, plastics and print.

Dominic’s appointment is timed to support the company in its return to ‘business as usual’, and particularly to focus on the firm’s core printing skills and services. He will support the company’s founder David Harkness and Chief Commercial Officer Zak Manhire in targeting new markets and customers, and in promoting the benefits of a ‘buy British’ strategy.

Dominic has considerable experience across a variety of executive roles, having launched bbc.co.uk as Head of Marketing for BBC Online in the late 1990s, and later as Strategic Marketing Director for LexisNexis. He was also Managing Director of PE backed Hawksmere and is particularly well connected within the Private Equity sector, having been an Operating Partner at both Livingbridge and RJD Partners. He has a proven track record of leading growth, turnaround and exit programmes in more than a dozen Chairman roles.

Following his high-profile appointment as Chairman of Morgan Motors, where he led the transition from a family owned business to external investment and ownership, Dominic was approached by Foresight Private Equity – the principal investor in Regency Design – to spearhead the next stage of the company’s growth.

Foresight is one of the most active private equity funds and that’s what attracted me to the business,” he says. “I am looking forward to working with the Regency team, combining their skills, enthusiasm and experience with my own expertise, knowledge and passion to support British manufacturing.”

Zak Manhire welcomed Dominic to the team: “Regency Design is a well invested, onshore manufacturing specialist with more than 25 years of experience”, he says, “and we are looking to grow in a post-COVID world.

“With a well-equipped facility and a highly skilled workforce, we believe we are well placed to meet the needs of businesses looking for the benefits that a local manufacturer can bring, with fast turnarounds and a short supply chain that enables us to deliver on time and on budget on any size of order.”
