Small printer seeks new ideas

tropex1

The best way to kick start a new year is to spend a bit of time thinking about adding value to your business through diversification – finding new products to take to your existing customers, retaining business and adding value to your bottom line.

That’s why exhibitions such as Trophex are so useful. This little gem of a show is all about broadening your horizons and discovering new ways of working and, more importantly, new ways to make profit and deliver new offerings to your customers.

trophex3What is fascinating about Trophex is that it seems to have been lost in a time warp, mostly because it devotes itself to the trophy, awards, personalisation and engraving industry. Print service providers hardly give it a second glance, and this is where they might be missing a trick. Trophex covers all aspects of added value promotional services such as sublimation, photo imaging, badges, pins, giftware, signage, lasers, decals, embroidery, gifts, promotional merchandise and many more profit making lines that could make all the difference to small print service providers.

The show is held over two days on Sunday 15th January and Monday 16th January 2012 and will be well worth a visit. For example, two of the major names in wide format printing will be there to demonstrate a range of digital personalisation printing solutions for the trophy, branded goods and promotional product markets.

First up is Roland DG who, along with its extensive range of engraving and 3D printers will also be showing its neat little BN20 Versa Studio printer. These have been selling like hot cakes since launch and are proving to be extremely popular with printers of all sizes looking to break into inkjet printing.

Mimaki will also be represented by its exclusive UK and Irish distributor, Hybrid Services Ltd, who will be on hand to demonstrate the Mimaki CJV30-60-press-shotattractively priced Mimaki CJV30-60 outdoor durable inkjet printer which features white and metallic ink suitable for creating decals, key fobs, trophy inserts, industrial labels, signs, graphics and more. Supplied with Mimaki’s RasterLink Pro RIP and FineCut cutting software, Hybrid Services says it’s a ‘business in a box’ solution ideal for small office spaces and shops.

Alongside the roll fed machine, Hybrid is also showing Mimaki’s multi award winning flatbed UJF-3042FX. Trophex will actually host the UK debut for this new machine, which uses low energy LED UV cured ink to print to a multitude of products, making it perfect for imprinting phone covers, flame polished acrylic (for photo blocks), metal items, glass, plastics and more besides.

trophex5Hybrid’s marketing manager, Duncan Jefferies says: “SMEs looking to expand their product catalogue can add breadth and capability in one fell swoop with a surprisingly small investment, and unlike typical printed document output, many of the jobs that these machines are capable of typically benefit from high profit margins and short lead times.”

Hybrid is sharing its stand space with authorised reseller, Lineker Machines, who as well as Mimaki printers and cutters, can supply embroidery and heat transfer solutions, so a visit to Stand 230 will be well worthwhile. Mimaki hardware will also be available to view on The Magic Touch’s stand where the Mimaki CJV30-100 will be demonstrating its garment marking credentials.

See you there!

Final thoughts from Benny Landa’s Drupa

News image

Drupa has just finished and as I wait in the airport lounge to fly home it’s time to share my final thoughts from what was quickly established as Benny Landa’s Drupa. Whilst there were no further announcements made at Drupa about additional partners licensing Landa Nanography, I very much doubt that Ko...

When Benny Landa sold Indigo to HP in 2003 he went back to Israel and set up Landa Labs. Printing was the last thing on his mind when he started to research nano technology. The main focus was pharmaceutical and energy, with hair care also on the agenda. However in the co...

Greetings from the Landa Nano stand at Drupa

If you want to know why I am smiling it is because I am having a whale of a time here on the Landa stand at Drupa. After incurring the wrath of my wife for cancelling a holiday and postponing my retirement yet again to be part of the Benny Landa ...

By the time you read this, Gerry will be gone

I have been to a number of very memorable Drupa exhibitions. I was here for the first time in 1982, when at the height of the Falklands war the international printing industry congregated in Germany. I remember being cold-shouldered by the Latin Americans and Spanish as the war raged and ...

When electricity first started to be used commercially at the end of the nineteenth century it was very much a locally generated affair. To begin with towns would have their own generating station and companies that needed to use it also installed generators. By the turn of the twentieth century electricity ...
